PME TRAINER
Puan Fawiza Abdul Wahid
Self-taught and highly driven with an unerring attention to detail, she has developed an impressive repertoire of cake decorating skills.
Puan Fawiza Abdul Wahid rather surprisingly began her foray into the territory of gainful employment in 1996 as an English teacher at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pasir Puteh, Ipoh immediately after graduating from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Bachelor of Education (TESL).
The turn of the new millennium also saw a turn in Puan Fawiza’s outlook on life. She took the plunge to venture into the world of cake baking and decorating full time and continued teaching only on a part time basis.
She has never looked back since.
In its infancy, Puan Fawiza’s baking and decorating trade was primarily centered on family and close friends. It was the invaluable feedback that she received from them that further honed her skills and once she was confident enough, she started sharing her wares with the larger public. This was done through her on-line cake journal thus creating a recognizable brand, wizzcakes, that is uniquely her own. Puan Fawiza’s first recognition was a real feather in her cap. One of her creations made it into the final stage of the Martha Stewart’s Cupcake Contest. On the home front, she was featured in the New Straits Times’ Tech & U segment, Blogging for Business, in February 2009.
With the wherewithal that she had accumulated over her two year venture, she decided to pursue more knowledge and expertise in cake decorating by acquiring the PME Master’s Certificate conducted by Sugarflours. Upon completion, she was immediately offered by the proprietor of Sugarflours to undergo the PME Trainers’ Certificate course in Chicago, USA. A certified PME Trainer now, she and two other Master’s PME Trainers from Sugarflours are joining forces to spread the knowledge in cake decorating; sharing tips and know-how, imparting skills from one home baker to another, individuals she can certainly identify with.
